Astronauts

Astronauts
Exploring outer space
Ventures most men never face
In a passive, prosperous age

So I drift
Through empty, starlit space
Looking for a trace
Of humans to awake

We were so
Blinded by the dream
All that matters is one thing
To share in Christ’s suffering

I was drowned
By pleasures and worries
Choking out the seed
That once was sown in me

We will all
Wither in the sun
Like flowers we are gone
One note in one song

But life is not
A bleak and hopeless lot
No I am a part
Of a greater, grander plot

So we set
Out for bigger things
Than temporal, hollow dreams
And empty salaries

Astronauts
Voyagers we gave
Comfort for a place
To live in heaven’s gates

I was given a mission
Don’t let me lose my vision
Retract all focus back to
The Great Commission
